I’ve spent more nights in Omaha hotels than I care to admit, and I’ve checked in with the grim determination of a man expecting the worst. But this city keeps proving me wrong, from the polished Old Market to the sprawling interstate exits where the steak is better than it has any right to be.
The range runs from the Hilton’s crisis-grade kindness to a Best Western pool slide that briefly restored my faith in childhood. All of it is here, and none of it is a trap.
Read on, and pick your pillow accordingly.
Magnolia Hotel Omaha
Highlights
---
Excellent downtown Omaha location
Kind restaurant and bar staff
Above-and-beyond service from Sam
Convenient access to attractions
Good dining experience onsite
I checked in with low expectations and left genuinely annoyed at how good the Magnolia was. The downtown location is excellent, which I hate to admit because it makes my job harder. Sam at the front desk solved a problem I didn't even know I had, and the restaurant staff were kind enough not to laugh at my tie. The onsite dining is decent, nothing transcendent, but the service carries it. If you need proximity to attractions, this works. My only complaint? I had to leave.

The Farnam, Autograph Collection
Highlights
---
Staff treats guests like family
Impeccably clean and comfortable rooms
Thoughtful surprises for special occasions
Bar and brunch worth your money
Service justifies the higher price
The Farnam made me feel like a forgotten relative, in the best way. The staff treated me like family, which normally makes me suspicious, but they earned it. Rooms were spotless and comfortable, almost annoyingly so. They left a small surprise for no occasion at all. Bar and brunch justify the price, and that price is high. Yet I didn't grumble once. If you want polished service without the usual hotel fakery, this is where you stay. I nearly tipped twice out of spite.

Hyatt Place Omaha/Downtown-Old Market
Highlights
---
Clean, spacious rooms with views
Friendly, welcoming hotel staff
Fresh breakfast with many options
Convenient Old Market location
On-site parking available
Hyatt Place in the Old Market is the sensible choice. The rooms are clean and spacious, with views that don't offend. The staff greeted me like a returning friend, which was nice until I realized they do that for everyone. Breakfast offered many options, though the sausage was a gamble. Parking on site saved me from circling, and the location put me steps from cobblestones and chaos. It's not flashy. It's dependable. I left feeling almost cheerful. Almost.

Hilton Omaha
Highlights
---
Staff kindness during crises
Best hotel in Omaha
Spacious rooms throughout
Great downtown location
Excellent gym and pool
The Hilton Omaha is the best hotel in Omaha, and I say that through gritted teeth. I had a minor crisis on my trip, and the staff handled it with such kindness I nearly cried. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The gym and pool are excellent, which I verified with a rather sweaty run. Location is great for downtown. I have no complaints, which is rare for me. If you need comfort and competent staff, this is it. I hate how much I liked it.

Kimpton Cottonwood
Highlights
---
Historic atmosphere, polished design
Comfortable beds, quiet AC
Warm pool and courteous staff
Efficient valet, fast service
Loyalty perk accepted elsewhere
The Kimpton Cottonwood is what happens when a historic building gets a facelift and a personality. The polished design felt like adult Disneyland. The bed was so comfortable I nearly missed my alarm; the AC was quiet enough that I forgot it was on. The pool was warm, and the staff were courteous without hovering. Valet was efficient and fast, which is rare. They even honored a loyalty perk from another hotel, which I didn't expect. I left satisfied and mildly suspicious of the smoothness.

The Peregrine Omaha Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton
Highlights
---
Welcoming staff, convenient dining
Rooftop bar with sunset views
Stylishly decorated, comfortable rooms
Quality steak at in-house restaurant
Mixed value; read recent reviews
The Peregrine is a mixed bag, and I'll say it plainly. The staff welcomed me warmly, and the rooftop bar gave me a sunset view worth a photo or three. The room was stylish and comfortable, but the value made me wince. The in-house restaurant serves a decent steak, though I've had better. Read recent reviews; they aren't lying. It's not a bad stay, but I wouldn't call it a bargain. If you want the view)Skip the steak, drink at the bar, and be prepared to grumble at the bill.

DoubleTree by Hilton Omaha Southwest
Highlights
---
Clean, comfortable, welcoming rooms
Staff anticipate every need
Fresh, warm chocolate-chip cookies
Stress-free, swift check-in
Convenient highway access
DoubleTree by Hilton Southwest knows what it's doing. The check-in was swift, stress-free, and came with a warm chocolate-chip cookie that I did not deserve. The staff anticipated my needs before I knew I had them, which was unsettling at first. The room was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Highway access made getting around easy. The cookie was still warm when I bit into it. I have no notes. Just bring a napkin for the crumbs and your dignity.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Omaha Downtown Old Market
Highlights
---
Perfect Old Market location
Attentive, friendly staff
Excellent bar service
Thoughtful gluten-free breakfast options
Quick, professional valet
Embassy Suites in the Old Market is the kind of place that ruins you for other hotels. The location is perfect, and the staff are attentive to the point of clairvoyance. The bar service was excellent, and I mean that as a compliment because I drink often. They even offered gluten-free breakfast options without me asking. Valet was quick and professional. I felt like a VIP, then realized they treat everyone that way. It's almost too good. I hated leaving. Almost.

Hotel Deco Omaha, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Highlights
---
Exceptional staff and service
Spacious, beautiful, modern rooms
Convenient Orpheum Theater access
Delicious on-site restaurant
Luxury at an affordable price
Hotel Deco is a masterpiece of misdirection. It looks expensive but isn't. The room was spacious, beautiful, and modern, with a bed I didn't want to leave. The staff were exceptional, solving issues before I noticed them. The location next to the Orpheum Theater is convenient, should you enjoy culture. The on-site restaurant served a meal I still think about, which is rare. Luxury at a price that didn't make me choke. I'd stay here again, but don't tell the other hotels.

Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District
Highlights
---
Spotless, comfortable, thoughtful rooms
Convenient Capitol District location
Genuine, standout staff hospitality
Impressive, smoothly run conference facilities
Excellent smashburger and truffle fries
The Omaha Marriott at the Capitol District is a workhorse disguised as a nice hotel. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. The staff were genuine, not performing friendliness. The conference facilities ran smoothly, which I only know because I accidentally wandered into one. The smashburger and truffle fries at the bar were absurdly good for a hotel. Location is convenient for the Capitol District. I left full, well-rested, and slightly annoyed that everything worked.

EVEN Hotel Omaha Downtown - Old Market by IHG
Highlights
---
In-room exercise gear
Clean rooms, friendly staff
Spacious rooms, fine breakfast
Old Market location
Modern fitness amenities
I don't usually get excited about a hotel gym, but the EVEN Hotel made me reconsider. In-room exercise gear is a trick I appreciate. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and the staff were friendly without trying to sell me anything. Breakfast was fine, and by fine I mean better than most. The Old Market location is convenient, but the real draw is the fitness gear. I actually worked out. That never happens. I had to sit down afterward. The shame was worth it.

Best Western Plus Midwest Inn
Highlights
---
Great value for money
Family-friendly pool with slides
Clean rooms, comfortable beds
Better breakfast than expected
Secure access, thoughtful staff
The Best Western Plus Midwest Inn is the kind of place I'd normally sneer at. I didn't. The value is absurd. For the price, you get clean rooms, comfortable beds, and a pool with slides that made me briefly forget I'm an adult. The breakfast was better than it had any right to be. Secure access and thoughtful staff sealed the deal. I felt safe, fed, and mildly embarrassed by how much I enjoyed the slides. I'd go back. Don't tell anyone.
